Peace of mind
We always measure the glass for you. This is not a add on this is all part of our friendly expert service. This ensures In the rare event the measurements are incorrect we are responsible.
The main reasons for this:
- There is only a 5mm tolerance for error.
- If the glass is too large, it may not fit; even if it does, the frame may expand in warm weather, potentially causing the glass to break.
- If it is too small, the edge of the spacer bar will be visible, and the bead may not fit securely.
- The thickness of the unit can be even more important than its overall size. In UPVC and Aluminum frames.
- A unit that is too thick will prevent the bead from snapping into place. If it is too thin, the unit will be loose, leading to draughts, and security issues.

Important:
When having a cat flap or pet door fitted, all DGU’s have to be replaced with a new bespoke manufactured toughened unit. This normally takes 7 to 10 days, from measuring to fitting

Solution for Narrow Glass

While many glaziers claim cat flaps can not be fitted in narrow glass, innovative methods exist for restricted widths:
Minimum Width Requirements: Solutions are often available for visible glass widths as narrow as 165mm to 200mm.
Glazing Bar Conversion: The technique involves using a specifically designed glazing bar to install a shorter double-glazed unit above a small uPVC panel, which then houses the cat flap.
Square Hole Tolerance: In some cases, utilizing a shaped hole rather than a circular one allows the installation to remain within safety tolerances for narrow panes.
